Our Comittment to Child Safety

Child Safety

Our Service is committed to ensuring the safety, wellbeing and best interests of all children and young people in every aspect of our operations. We uphold a zero tolerance for all forms of child abuse and neglect and are dedicated to implementing high-quality, child-safe practices that protect children from physical, sexual, emotional and psychological harm.

Our Service embeds the Victorian Child Safe Standards across leadership, governance and daily practice, fostering a culture in which child safety and wellbeing are actively promoted and risks of harm are identified, reduced and responded to promptly. We strive to create environments where children feel safe, secure, respected and have a strong sense of belonging.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum supports the concept that learning is a child-centric process where children obtain their knowledge and development through self-directed experiential communications with people and their environment. The design of our curriculum is influenced by the interests of our centre’s children. This invaluable information is collected by our educators through observations, interactions and discussions with children and their families.

Our curriculum encompasses and enlightens children to a multitude of experiences, providing opportunities for children to be able to learn through touch, movement, listening and observing. Everyday routine in the centre provides an excellent learning occasion for children to develop self-help skills in order to become independent human-beings. In our curriculum, children are respected and encouraged to engage in self-expression through a multitude of forms, such as painting, music, art, dance, decision making, communication, logical thinking and problem solving.

We endeavour to reflect the diversities of the children and families in our centre. We will actively seek connections in the wider community to assist children to become confident in themselves as well as inspire an open attitude in our multicultural society.

From Monday to Friday a minimum 15 hours of 3 & 4-year-old kindergarten programs will be delivered by two full-time qualified kinder teachers. These programs will be catered to two rooms of maximum of 22 students with a flexibility that benefits part-time attendees. Furthermore, Chinese language will be taught in the curriculum as a means of introducing diversity in a cultural context. Chinese language is an additional curriculum integrated into our kinder program.

Our Nutrition

We believe nutrition is an important aspect of raising a healthy, active minded and active bodied child. By using a healthy balance of freshly cooked food, we monitor each child’s food and nutritional intake to ensure optimal nutrition is received daily. Our menu planning is guided by the Australian Dietary Guidelines and the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating. It is in accordance with the Australian Government’s 'Get Up & Grow: Healthy Eating and Physical Activity for Early Childhood'. These appetising meals are also adjustable based on individual dietary requirements, catering to allergies and family cultural backgrounds.

Child Safety

It is our centre’s commitment to be a child safe organisation. Our centre has the ‘Child Safe Policy’ in effect. Our organisation sees it as an obligation to have a system in place in order to protect children from abuse. We take all allegations very seriously and respond to them according to the centre’s policies and procedures.
Abuse in any form is not tolerated within the centre or if suspected in the home environment. We will active listen to and empower children in relation to child safety issues through our daily programs and practices.

Our Child Safe Principles

Our centre teaches and promotes all cultures and especially recognises the significance of the Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We recognise and celebrate that the children and families at our centre may be linguistically diverse, from different cultural backgrounds, may live with disability or come in different shapes and sizes.
We are a centre that creates a safe environment for our diversity.
